I hope you can sense the sarcasm in that title. Good news = Boating Season opens on Saturday and it is supposed to be WARM!!! Bad news = there are some road closures that'll make you want to drive your car off the road and turn it into a boat.
Here we go! CLOSURES for THIS WEEKEND Starting Friday May 3rd.
I5 Mercer on/off ramps : The Mercer Street on/off ramps from I5 will close from 11pm Friday May 3rd through 5am Monday May 6th.
West Seattle Bridge : Ramp from the West Seattle Bridge to SB I5 will CLOSE from 10pm Friday to 5am Monday for road work.
6th Ave / I5 : The ramp from 6th Ave S/Lower Spokane Street to SB I5 will CLOSE from 10pm Friday to 5am Monday.
SB I5 near Spokane : SB I5 near Spokane/West Seattle Bridge, the right lane will be closed from 9pm Friday through 10am Saturday. This closure happens again 8pm Saturday to 11am Sunday and again from 7pm Sunday to 6am Monday. Sheesh.
520 / 405 : Eastbound and Westbound On-ramps to Northbound 405 will CLOSE from 10pm Saturday to 5am Sunday.
405 : Crews will close up to THREE lanes of Northbound 405 betwen 520 and NE 85th in Kirkland from 8pm Saturday to Sunday at noon.
Montlake Bridge : This one is a doozy. The Montlake Bridge will be CLOSED to car and foot traffic from 7am to 4pm on Saturday May 5th. This is definitely going to jam up Montlake Blvd in either direction approaching 520, and turn the area near UW stadium/hospital into a mess. Traffic will probably re-route to the University Bridge or even I5... so expect traffic to be a little thicker in those areas.
520 / Montlake : The ramp from WB 520 to Montlake Blvd will be closed from 7am Saturday to 4pm Saturday.
520 in Medina : Off-ramp from Westbound 520 to 92nd Ave NE will close from 9pm Saturday to 5am Sunday for construction.
March of Dimes March for Babies - ROUTE: Mercer Street to Fifth Ave N to Cedar Street to Second Ave to Spring street to Second Ave. 8am - noon Saturday.
Goodness gracious. That's a LOT of closures for the warmest weekend we've had in eons. PLEASE plan ahead! It'll be a tough weekend.
PS: Please, we know it might be tempting, but please do not drive your car into the water when you experience traffic related frustrations this weekend. Its just not a good idea. No, your car is not a Duck. And I don't think you would want it to be. Can you imagine trying to parallel park that thing? No good.
