Heads up, we've got some pretty major closures happening for the next two weekends on highway 99 through Seattle. This could make things pretty slow in the area this for the next two weekends.
December 14th through the 17th. The right lane of southbound SR 99 between Columbia Street and South Royal Brougham Way will be CLOSED + they'll also close the the southbound SR 99 off-ramp to South Atlantic Street from 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17.
December 21st through the 24th. The right lane of southbound SR 99 will CLOSE between Columbia Street and South Royal Brougham Way + the southbound off-ramp to South Atlantic Street from 7 p.m. Friday, December 21st to 5 a.m. Monday, December 24th.
"What about the Seahawks game!?"
Good question!
Crews will REOPEN all lanes of SR 99 and the South Atlantic Street off-ramp two hours prior to the Sunday, Dec. 23, Seahawks game at CenturyLink Field. The ramp and southbound lane will close again an hour after kickoff, and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24
The best way to handle all this traffic if you're headed toward the area is to leave for your destination early, plan ahead, take public trans if you can. And above all, be safe! DOT expects traffic to get pretty nasty downtown because people will re-route there.
Have a great weekend!
