Last week, Fox denied a rumor that they were thinking about bringing back JENNIFER LOPEZ to replace MARIAH CAREY on "American Idol" mid-season.

And now, there's word that it was actually J-Lo who approached Fox about getting her old job back. A "source" tells RadarOnline.com that J-Lo had her manager reach out to "Idol" to let them know she was interested.

Supposedly, she's no longer interested in touring...and liked the stability that "Idol" provided, so that she could remain home with her five-year-old twins. The source added that J-Lo never suggested that she REPLACE Mariah.

"I just heard that Def Jam had a listening last week and everyone at the label listened to the album and loved it," Rosenberg revealed during his morning show broadcast.
