This talk will discuss early identification of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in infants and toddlers, summarizing existing research and describing new results from an ongoing prospective study. Recurrence risk of ASD in families who already have an affected child will also be discussed, as will developmental challenges beyond ASD that may occur in siblings. The talk will conclude with clinical implications for screening and working with families.
